Chatsworth Academy is now part of The Sovereign Trust
The Governing Board has three core functions:
1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
2. Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its students, and the performance management of the staff;
3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure it's money is well spent.
The governing board needs to take a strategic role, act as a critical friend to the school and be accountable for its decisions. Governors carry out a significant level of scrutiny and challenge during sub-committee meetings. The governing board decides the constitution, membership and terms of reference of all committees, and must review these annually.
